Attendance, Drop off and Pick up Please have your child at school and on time every day, illness excepted. School starts at 7:55 am; School ends at 3:00 pm. Please excuse your child of any lateness or absences through the office. Students line up outside in the mornings and get picked up at the same spot after school. In order to ensure student safety, students need to be dismissed by me after they have made visual contact with their parent/guardian. If you would like your child to leave without having a visual of you, I need prior permission from the parent or guardian.
Thursday Folders Every Thursday students will bring home their Thursday Folder. It will contain information and announcements from the school. Please look through the contents and return the folder on Friday.
Weekly Grade Slips Every Monday students will be given a small slip with their current grades in all subjects. Report cards will be broken down further, but this will you give you a weekly update of how your child is doing in every subject, including their homework. Please ask your child to see these every Monday! Feel free to contact me if you ever have questions about any of the grades.
Uniforms The school uniform is khaki pants, shorts or skirt with the blue Force shirt. Students may wear blue jeans and a grey or pink Force shirt, students could also wear the normal uniform on Fridays.
Track & Recess Track (walk/run break) and recess will be short daily activities all year long. Please remember to check the weather and send your child dressed accordingly.
Specials Art, technology, music, and P.E. will rotate on a 4 day schedule. Please have your child wear or bring appropriate footwear on P.E. days. We will go to library once a week to check out books to bring home. Library books must be brought back each week in order to check out other books. If books are lost and not returned, you will need to pay the cost of the book. We will try to go to the library on Tuesdays. Books may be brought back on Monday if it would help in remembering.
Star of the Week Throughout the year each student will have the opportunity to be spotlighted as the student of the week. He/she will bring home a piece of butcher paper to be traced on and cut out. The inside can be filled with information about your student, and pictures if desired. More information will come home when it is your child’s turn.
Water Bottles Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to keep on their desk.
Birthdays Your child is welcome to bring a treat for the class on his/her birthday. This is not necessary or required. Summer birthdays will be celebrated on their half birthday or the last month of school. You are welcome to send the treat with your child in the morning, or bring it at the end of the school day. This will generally be the last 15 minutes, but please check before, as our schedule is different on some days.
Fun Friday Every Friday third grade will have an extra period at the end of the day to reward students for work completion. Students may attend the extra activity if ALL classwork and homework have been correctly completed and turned in. If they have missing work they will use that time to get caught up.
Home Visits Force is participating in a home visit program this year. These are short (20 minute) visits. I hope to be able to visit each student’s family to get to know them and let them get to know me better!
Discipline Our school discipline provides an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. It consists of mutual respect for teachers, students, and staff. Students receive positive rewards for good behavior and academic work. Warnings, parental contact, and refocus (formerly known as detention) will be used as disciplinary measures. The school has adopted Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and No Nonsense Nurturing (NNN).
